Who will win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Final - India or Srilanka? Muralitharan's fitness is a doubt and is unfit to play. India should not allow him just to bowl and not field. If he is 100% he plays or else sits out completely. Its real cricket we talking about and its final. No charity time whatsoever!
Muralitharan fitness issues has been there through out the tournament. Whether he is fit to play the world cup finals or not is something which the world would know tomorrow. But the passionate player he is, will play with what he can.
Its not only about winning the CWC 2011, but its also about taking the revenge of the 1996 world cup semifinal loss at Eden Gardens against Srilanka which brought tears in the eyes of many Indian supporters and of Vinod Kambli's while walking off the field.
India was chasing 252 runs. It was a good start provided by Sachin Tendulkar. But once he got out, India started losing wickets too quickly and lost 6 wickets in 30 runs and India now was at 120 with 8 wickets down in 34 overs.
The crowd at Eden Gardens, Kolkata went ballistic and started setting the stadium on fire and disrupted the match by throwing whatever they could in the field at players. The match was abandoned and Srilanka were declared winner on the basis of D/L rules.
It was 1996 and its 2011 now. India got its chance for taking the revenge. Indian cricket has changed a lot since then and has changed for the good. Sachin Tendulkar is the only player now playing for India who was there in the 1996 playing 11 during that match.
Sachin must be remembering that night and he is gunning himself for the revenge.
So do we, every Indian does and the tears should not go waste. India has worked hard, given there sweat and blood, we deserve winning the world cup, Sachin deserves to make his dream come true finally.
Less than 15 hours to go before the final match begins, emotions are running high, dreams are at stake. Its now or never for Sachin, will he just let it go? No way .. He didn't get the team support in 1996, but in 2011 every team member wants the one thing, that is winning the world cup for Sachin and for the nation.
India has everything champions must have, passion, aggression, vision, plans and dreams. India should win the world cup 2011. Srilanka, you watch out. A blazing start from the opening duo of Sehwag and Sachin could easily make Lankans tumble.
Will Virender Sehwag make a century in the final match? If he does, we know what would be the match result. Such a dangerous player he is as long as he's out there with the bat, he's a nightmare for bowlers!
There's no fear in mind, only the goal is there - the golden cup, winning World Cup. Its not a match to lose, its time to give it the max and surprise the opponent taking our 1996 world cup semifinal revenge by defeating Srilanka in the 2011 World Cup Final. Read the final match preview Sachin Vs Muralitharan.

Top-level comments on this article: (1 total)It was India's mistake in the 1996 semi-final. They knew Eden Gardens had a history of turning pitches becoming nightmarish later because of the dew. In spite of knowing this they chose to chase which was foolish. By the way, how did you highlight Sachin v/s Muralitharan? Teach me, teach me, teach me.Hey DM, Dew factor is actually good for the batting team and bad for the team bowling, because the dew makes the ball slippery and bowlers find it hard to grip the ball. Eden Garden's match was also said to be fixed as was reported by some of the media players. Given the Azhar's and Jadeja's track record, its possible.
I have linked Sachin vs Muralitharan and thats why it shows highlighted. When writing/editing an article, you can link anything by first selecting the word or sentence and then click the green colour globe looking icon in the text editor and fill the Url Link you want your readers to click and see. Its done!
Hope you got me.I agree with you and we were all innocent about the match-fixing stuff in those days. I still remember a series soon after 87 world cup where India was rocking. That time I was only 10 years old and I wondered what if they all decided amongst each other who will win which game. Immediately, my aunt spoke my mind and said she read in some magazine that these days players decide games amongst themselves. When we even lost 87 semi-finals the speculation arose that match-fixing existed.
Thanks for sharing the knowledge. I will try it with one of my articles and see how it works.
